About Steering

The Steering Committee is a student elected and led committee at Hickman High School. Its goal is to serve the student body at Hickman as the school's form of Student Government.

Steering is also the bridge between Hickman's students and administration. Each month Steering holds Forums for students interested in what's happening at their school. This platform is also an opportunity for students to share their school-related views with Steering. The Committee can then pass relevant feedback directly to Hickman's Administration after the Forum.

Meet the Steering Committee:

Meet Steering

Each member of Steering plays a specific role. All offices have terms of one school year. Officers are elected by students annually in a school-wide election. The newly elected officers then interview and appoint members to the other Steering positions.

SPONSOR

Jeff Devero

The sponsor provides a location for the committee to meet and helps guide it through the year with their knowledge of how Hickman and the larger Columbia Public Schools district operates.

PRESIDENT

Stephen You

The President presides over the Steering Committee, leading all meetings. The President also works closely with the other Big 4 positions on leadership decisions, and regularly communicates with Hickman's administration.

VICE-PRESIDENT

Davis Mosby

The Vice-President works closely with the President, taking over their duties in the event they are absent. The Vice-President also works closely with the other Big 4 positions on leadership decisions, and regularly communicates with Hickman's administration along-side the President.

SECRETARY

Hannah Snodgrass

The Secretary works with the other Big 4 positions on administration and leadership decisions. They keep records of all Steering meetings and help the Outreach chair write Forum Snippets using those records. The secretary is also in charge of recording meeting and election votes.

TREASURER

Jenna Morgan

The Treasurer keeps track of the Steering's funds and helps make decisions about the Committee's budget. They also work with the other Big 4 positions on leadership decisions and regularly communicate with Hickman's administration.

Abby Eddy

Members of the Activities Subcommittee help organize many school events including QPFEST and the Activities Fair. They often work with the Treasurer and local businesses to help plan these events.

The Outreach Subcommittee is in charge of the Steering Committee's marketing, public, and press relations. Members primarily create designs for school posters and run the Steering Social Media accounts.

The Policy chair organizes and carries out electoral procedures for student government. They also help ensure that other chairs are executing their duties properly.
