Clubs & Extracurriculars

Steering is here to make sure your club is a success through a number of different programs and events:

  • All new clubs go through the Steering approval process to ensure that they can succeed at Hickman.

  • In the fall, clubs have the opportunity to show off what they can offer through the Steering organized QPFEST and Activity Fair events.

  • All clubs choose delegates to attend Student Forums and keep the club updated on what's happening at Hickman.

Extracurriculars Guide

A guide featuring numerous tips for your club this school year, ranging from the best way to communicate with members to how you should be holding meetings during a pandemic.

Getting Your Club Approved

The Steering Committee's goal is not to be hyper-selective regarding approval. On the contrary, the process is designed to make sure your club is as successful as possible.

To get your club approved, you'll need to attend a Student Forum and pitch your club idea. Your club will then either be approved or you'll be asked to resubmit after making changes to the constitution or other elements. For more info on the process, check out the Club Approval Guide below.

Updating Your Constitution

If your club makes a change to its Constitution, you can resubmit it to Steering to keep our records up to date. You won't have to go through the Club Approval process again.

Registering a Delegate For Forums

The Steering Committee strongly recommends that all clubs have a delegate to regularly attend Student Forums so everyone can stay in the loop about what's happening at Hickman.

Clubs are allowed to choose their delegates internally however they see fit, but if you're looking for suggestions, democracy seems to work pretty well.
